The trial was delayed multiple times due to COVID-related court closures. However, on July 29, 2021, justice was finally served when a jury returned a $10.6 million verdict. The jury ultimately found Honeywell to be 70 percent at fault for Mr. Jenning’s death.
The jury’s resounding verdict in support of the Jennings family came after a trial in which Honeywell’s defense team, led by attorneys Joe Pevsner and Julie Friedman, argued that the asbestos present in their brakes is safe.
Scientific research proves otherwise: Mesothelioma is caused by asbestos exposure. For more than 60 years, it has been known that asbestos is a carcinogen.
If disturbed, asbestos fibers can become airborne and unknowingly inhaled by nearby workers or bystanders. Once inside the body, these small fibers can embed within the linings of the lungs, heart, and other organs. These fibers may cause malignant tumors to grow years or even decades after the individual was first exposed to asbestos.
