Litigation Associate
Ferraro Law is a rapidly expanding mid-sized plaintiff personal injury firm, actively seeking a highly motivated and experienced Associate to take an active role in joining our Litigation team. Our firm is conveniently located in the vibrant Brickell financial district of Miami, Florida.
Qualifications:
- Possession of a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
- A minimum of 3 years of legal experience in complex litigation at the federal and state level.
- Active member in good standing of the Florida Bar.
- Keenly detail-oriented with exceptional analytical skills.
- Ability to collaborate in a team environment with internal and external contacts at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple cases and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
- Must manage highly confidential information with professionalism and unquestionable integrity.
- Must possess superior legal research and writing abilities, complemented by strong oral advocacy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel).
Duties & Responsibilities:
Duties include, but will not be limited to:
- Investigate and evaluate potential new cases for technical and legal issues.
- Conduct thorough legal research on diverse litigation matters and apply findings to case facts and strategy.
- Responsible for having a deep knowledge and understanding of all the facts and procedural aspects of each case that is assigned.
- Maintain effective and consistent communication with clients, including providing
updates on case status and progress, as well as upcoming events. - Research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, legal memoranda for internal and external
use, and correspondence related to cases. - Manage and coordinate all aspects of the document discovery process, including document gathering, review, production, and otherwise collaborating and interfacing with clients on all aspects of discovery.
- Conduct all phases of civil discovery including drafting written discovery requests, conducting meet and confers with opposing counsel, motion practice related to discovery disputes, and preparing for and conducting depositions.
- Be able to help identify and work with experts, including selecting and preparing expert witnesses.
- Collaborate with other firm attorneys to develop and implement case strategies and legal arguments.
- Assist with trial preparation, including witness preparation, preparation of trial exhibits,and pre-trial motions.
- Trial experience is not required but highly helpful.
- Participate and assist with negotiations to resolve disputes and represent client interests in alternative dispute resolution methods, including mediation.
- Maintain accurate, organized, and complete case files, including legal correspondence.
- Collaborative work with the intake and marketing departments during the investigative stages of cases/claims.
